Big Little Things
I was very pleased when I saw this 'friend of Snoopy' on my page following some 'eyes-closed doodling' a while ago. The original is a small drawing and Woodstock is a petite bird who makes a large impact in the comic strip, Peanuts.
This morning, my attention was drawn to a Jewish translation of a very short psalm. It is as follows:
For God's steadfast love overpowers us; the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever - Halleluhah. Psalm 117. (Rabbi Dan Ornstein, My Jewish Learning).
The imagery that floated into my mind was being dumped in the ocean as a child and then coming up for air. I was certainly overpowered but thankfully, I'm here to tell the story.
One of my dearest friends, Belinda, became so subsequent to me telling a brief story about 30 years ago. It went something like this: "I walked into a wrong way go back sign once." (Eloquent, I know). Belinda recently told me that in that moment she thought, 'this is the kind of person I could be friends with for life'.
My Mum has been making small crocheted animals for children for about 6 years now. They are known as wool fidgets in our circles and these mini toys light up eyes and prompt wide smiles.
A family member recently noted that I write from the heart and I appreciate that. I wonder what size the non-physical human heart is. Who knows, but I guess the physical heart isn't exactly massive as compared with a grandiose cathedral, for example. In any case, the heart seems to be a sacred place and God within appears expansive, rich, immense.
